The festival was founded with the idea and basic task of preserving and affirming the ethnological, ethnomusicological, ethnochoreological, scenic and artistic values of folk traditions in the territory of Vojvodina.
The main characteristic of this festival is its ethnomusicological heterogeneity, which is unknown in any other cultural space in Europe. Through this Festival, the 26 national communities of Vojvodina with their authentic cultural values and traditions, together with the indigenous and very diverse colonist and newly settled Serbian ethnos, reflect today’s real cultural map of Vojvodina in their wealth of folk creative art.
Among the very diverse performance practices of local communities, registered elements of the intangible cultural heritage of Serbia will be presented: Singing to the accompaniment of the gusle, Clamour singing, Kaval playing Groktalica singing Ojkača singing…
