European Folk Day – September the 23rd
The two folk musicians and actors Thommi Baake (singer and author) and Peter Wehrmann (vocal drummer and sound acrobat) have been on stage for over 30 years: Separated!
At last they have joined forces. The world has just been waiting for this.
The music: Mainly Irish songs (traditional and their own), original compositions, a few poachers in the Scottish and Celtic realm and now and then they winkingly stray from the path of folk virtue.
Plus Thommi’s Irish stories with Peter’s noise paintings, his own limericks and other delicacies.
Live and without tricks.
Folk music with beatboxing? Does that work? Of course, it’s just that nobody has thought of it yet. The multi-artists Thommi Baake and Peter Wehrmann, alias Pete the Beat, love the unusual, the wild.
Two voices, six strings (guitar), four strings (ukulele banjo), songs, stories, limericks, noises, curiosities.
A colourful folk programme with lots and lots of music and, as a bonus, stories and comedy: a unique combination!
