The Official European Folk Day 2024 Celebration Concert
Experience a captivating evening of cinematic and epic fantasy folk as Finland’s foremost folk musicians unveil their new repertoires.
Venla Ilona Blom, a multi-award-winning vocalist, composer, and beatboxer, will grace the stage. Renowned for her internationally acclaimed band Tuuletar, Blom’s vocals have been featured in the Game of Thrones trailer, among others. Her ethereally explosive folktronica debut album, NEVRAK, will be released worldwide on 20th September 2024. Joining Blom is a 10-member orchestra with a unique blend of classical, folk, and electronic instruments, filling the Savoy Theater with a symphony of vocal melodies, harmonies, and captivating dance and visual elements.
The evening will be opened by folk music superstar and kantele artist-singer, Maija Kauhanen, premiering her new stage performance, Ignes Fatui (English: Ghostly Lights). This interactive musical experience features the world’s first light-controlled acrylic kantele, alongside dynamic light and sound art that evolves with each performance, tailored to the space and audience.
